Drawing before he could even walk, artist Brandon Pridgett draws his inspiration from dreams, those seen at night and daytime musings, as well.

“Dreams are where we see truth most vividly. They carry the most honest moments of our lives,” explains Pridgett, who adds he also finds inspiration in everyday surroundings and the issues that affect us all. “Because an image affects each one of us uniquely, I believe I can say more with my paintings than by simply addressing an issue verbally.”

Working in acrylic on board, Pridgett creates provocative images of social and spiritual commentary, narrative in form and detail, yet open to interpretation.

“I like to present my art in a manner that allows the individual viewer to define its meaning on their own,” says Pridgett. “Because each of us have our own journey to follow, paintings speak to every viewer on an intimate and personal level.”

The Cincinnati native and resident, who majored in Illustration at Columbus College of Art and Design, suggests that we all pay heed to the words of Willy Wonka:

“We are the music makers and the dreamers of dreams.”
